The African Violet Society of Dayton is an affiliate of the African Violet Society of America – AVSA (www.avsa.org) and the Ohio State African Violet Society – OSAVS (www.osavs.org). Monthly meetings are usually held at 7 pm at the Springboro Municipal Building’s Community Room (320 W. Central Ave., Springboro, Ohio 45066)
This program year, during the months of November, December, January, February and March, the meetings have been moved to a Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
The focus of the club is to provide an atmosphere of support for those interested in the culture and propagation of African Violets and their cousins in the Gesneriad family. Annual membership is $15/person or $20/family.
Several members are accredited AVSA judges. We even count the Gesneriad Society president Mel Grice as a member. Our very own Pat Hancock is an internationally renowned African violet hybridizer – founder of the Buckeye and Jitterbug series of African violets (www.buckeyeviolets.com).
Our members can be generous to a fault regarding sharing plants and knowledge with others – and are always willing to ‘Spread the Love.’
